BEACH BLOG HOP ~~~ The Moon-Crater Necklace and the Diamond Earrings!!!!! ~~~ Part 1

I am so excited to be part of this fabulous group!  Lisa Lodge, our fearless leader, sends willing participants mystery boxes of jewelry making goodies.  We may or may not add some of our own tidbits if we choose.  The BIG reveal is on a appointed date.

Today is my first blog hop (others reveals are saved for the group on the Facebook page)! I promise, the next one I will be more thorough in my picture taking.  For now I will post pictures of the finished product and try to remember all of my trials and errors (there were a LOT!!!).  My kit contained cultured sea glass rounds (crystal & sky blue); cultured sea glass tusks (the name is periwinkle but I would call it a light lavender), cultured sea glass shells (crystal), cultured sea glass teardrops (blossom pink---again think it is more lavender), cultured sea glass diamond pendant (blossom pink), 2-hole silver filigree spacers, crystal bicones (violet with an AB finish), and 2 very large silver things.  That was my first impression anyway. The more I looked at those big silver things the more I saw the surface of the moon...hence "THE MOON-CRATER NECKLACE".

You know me by now.  I need to upcycle!  I LOVE to upcycle!  If it craves to be morphed into jewelry, it is!  This brings us to my additions. The silver beads are from my stash.  I used them because they look other-worldly.  The mother of pearl pendant is an archeological find.  I dug and dug through the bins at Goodwill.  I found this pendant that was glittery purple and thought I must be able to do something with it.  I was going to use it as I found it but something kept bugging me about it.  Well long story short: a bit of nail polish remover and low and behold a hidden gem.  The last item from my pile of jewelry wanna bes is the base for the focal point....the under-wire from a bra (well scrubbed and oxidized).

What you need to know about the making of this necklace is that this necklace wanted to be made one way and one way only!!!  lol  It was so much fun and a tremendous experience for me!  I traveled quite far out of my comfort zone and glad I did.  I definitely grew as an artist.  I even made my first clasp!  I am quite proud of it and will be making many more.

Without further ado, I present The Moon-Crater Necklace and the Diamond Earrings:

  1. Hi Rosee, your jewelry set is beautiful. I can see why you named it moon crater. Kudos to you for making the clasp.

  3. Great job on your first blog hop, Rosee! Very pretty necklace and earrings. The "moon crater" is one of my favorite components. The upcycled pendant was a nice addition to the piece. Thanks for being in the hop!

  7. Beautiful pieces! I love the "moon crater" LOL! =) Your earrings are sublime, as well! I love that they are simple and sweet. That leaves all the interest to the necklace - such a great piece! =)
